Geology Field Camp is the capstone experience in most undergraduate geology programs. It provides students the opportunity to apply their accumulated knowledge and skills to the investigation and interpretation of unfamiliar geologic areas.
The Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment at Illinois State University offers a 6 semester-hour course in traditional Field Geology. We have been teaching this highly successful course for over three decades. We require this course for our B.S. degree candidates and welcome applications from geology majors at other universities.
External students are welcome. If you are interested in enrolling in our Field Camp, for full consideration please complete the application and health information and return the form to Dr. David Malone at your earliest convenience. Most admission decisions are made by early February. We try to hold some spaces open for hardship cases through mid-April. Please feel free to contact us through April 30 to see if space is still available.
To attend field camp you must first apply and be accepted by the Field Camp Director. Complete the Field Camp application form by clicking on the Apply Now link to the right. Please include any special dietary needs (including vegetarian/vegan) on the application form. Most needs can be accommodated.
